Venice of the north

Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Capital city of The Netherlands, we (Chaitanya, Raghu and myself) visited Amsterdam for a day (23rd June 2008). There are numerous waterways just like Venice, hence the name. But obviously unlike Venice, there are big roads and road transport is there as well.

We spent a major portion of the time visiting the Anne Frank Huis (house), touring the attic where the jewish family were in hiding till they were discovered and taken away to the concentration camps. Anne Frank, who was 15 at that time, died of typhoid at one of the camps, two weeks before the end of Nazi rule.
